Hi Dave
Congratulation to the fine result with your TH338 amplifier. However,
something worries me. You mention on your website that you had arcing inside
the tube at a certain stage. Are you still using this very tube now?
I found in 30 years of using these tubes that arcing inside was identical to
very poor gain or even totally destroyed tube. Maybe you changed it?

432Mhz

Changed preamp from DJ9BV MGF1302 (0.5db) to KB2AH cavity with FHX35
(0.35db). Has not seemed to help.

On friday night worked kl6m and also NC1I for a new initial and state. CWNR
K2UYH, VK3UM (15 mins)

On saturday night worked K2UYH and HB9Q (loudest signal of the weekend),
CWNR SV1BTR (15 mins) I1NDP (15 mins... got QRZ), DF3RU. Also heard NC1I,
KL6M, OK1DFC, UA3TPW. Nothing heard in "VK" window. Conditions changing
fast, stations "came and went" in 30 minutes!

1296MHz

Decided to burn in new Amp in preparation for CX expedition. Worked G4DZU
(cw initial) K5JL (gave me 569...wow!) Heard SM5LE. Called CQ a lot, no
responses. The good news is that the amp survived 6 hours operation without
protest (TH338,~450W 2200V).

Weather permitting (high winds forecast) I hope to be on both bands again
this afternoon

Dave
