Hi all:
HAARP's 40m EME testing was a fun to listen to.
Jan. 19 the band was so noisy (perhaps snow noise
from the mountain area). Neither EME nor ionospheric
signal was heard.
Jan. 20 the band was clear. Both signals were audible.
S7 signals via ionosphere, and M to O copy on 6.7925MHz
via EME. Signals on 7.40275MHz were heard better and
audible enough, specially after the Sun went to the west.
On both transmissions, slow and deep QSB was remarkable
possibly because of the ionospheric activities.
My antennas were 42m-long inverted-L, or 6el. 20m yagi
up 16m high only (better for EME receiving today!).
Conditions on 1296MHz was also fun to work three #'s.
Jan 19, SV1BTR had very clear and stable signals for a while,
549/559. IK3COJ gave me call several times, 449/559.
DF3RU was finally copied O/539. TNX for #'s, OM's!!
After the EU window got disturbed by the trees, I tried 20m
EME with 1kW. No echo was heard. Instead, I worked ZD7X
about 4am, no other signals were heard at all, which seems
to be incredible condition on 20m in the winter morning.
So when the ionosphere is viable, no amateur HF-EME might
be expected.
Jan. 20, no signals from NA/OC or Asia in the afternoon.
Still my bulky 5G feed is between the 1296 feed and the dish.
It may disturb much...
