Hello Ross,

If i as a newbeginner is allowed to have some thoughts around this i
would advice as first point go for building up the dish and the tower
with autotracking and during that time look for good used equipment to
start with.

I would also advice to have a look on what DL1YKM have made on their
expedition and try to copy that setup. It looks like that size of dish
could pass the neighbours and family member that are not so
interested. (we all know of the good performance on that setup)

I am looking at getting up to 1296, and I would like to have a
reasonably good station
Can you please give me advice as to what is required.

Size of dish (be realistic, the XYL is starting to get unimpressed by
my current hardware up in the air)

transverter from 28 or 144? (my preference would be for DB6NT as I
already have
their 2m and 70cm transverters, which work well) but I am open to
suggestions.

Transmitter, how do I get the power required, and where do I get the
amps??? (On 2m I can run 2kw and on 70cm 1.5kw
with amps from LZ2US which are superb).

Feeding the dish, what is the best solution?

What else do I need??????

2m and 70cm are reasonably straight forward, but 1296 seems another
world, so I need help.

I would be feeding the transverters from my Orion II or an Elecraft
K3.

Best wishes to all.

Ross
