In June 2007 we had a very sucessful Activity Weekend on 3.4GHz and as a result both the ARRL and DUBUS contests benefitted from increased activity on that band. The dates of June 7th and 8th were publicised in the February 2008 432 and above Newsletter and I propose that we go with them.
The concept of an Activity Weekend is to concentrate the activity of the relatively few stations currently equipped onto a single weekend, to encourage newcomers, both transmitting and listening, to test out new feeds, preamps etc, compare measurements and above all to have fun. There should be a couple of strong signals ( W5LUA and LX1DB) on the band to help newcomers. Most activity during last year and since has been on and around 3400.100 but there is likely to be some at 3456.100 as well.
Rainer DF6NA kindly ran a web page with a list of stations active and building at http://www.moonbounce.info/3400.htm and Im sure he will update that for us so keep him informed.
So, thats about 7 weeks to get yourself organised, there are plenty of guys now who have built systems and will answer questions from those who are building for the first time. To give an idea of activity the list of stations I have worked since last year is G4NNS, G3LQR, OK1CA, OK1KIR, W5LUA, VE4MA, VK3NX, LX1DB, WW2R, N9JIM, DL4MEA and VE6TA.
Thanks, 73 & GL Peter G3LTF
