Agree Dave, it is like spit to our face. Looks like the EME contests are
more simple and second class!!

Subject: Re: [Moon] ARRL 2007 Results
The ARRL has messed up the results of this contest for- how many years
in a row now- 5? 6?
It's really inexcusable that the EME community is getting treated this
way. If they tell us it's because of factors like a lack of
experienced help collecting and tabulating results of contests, then I
think if I were an HF contester I'd be very DIS-inclined to
participate in the big ARRL HF contests for fear of my results being
even more screwed up than they are in a small one like the EME
Competition. I mean, what are we talking about- a couple of hundred
logs? A few thousand QSO's?
It's really very insulting to me to find that not only did they goof
up the article that was supposed to be the tabulation of the results
in QST (I think a classic example, and there are many in this year's
listing, is that NA4N WON the 902MHz category with 60,000 points- I'm
quite sure he didn't operate on that band during the contest and to
think he scored 60,000 points would mean that he either had about 150
QSO's and 4 multipliers (about all you could possibly get on that
band) or QSO's on 900MHz have been given a huge amount of extra value
(I won that band with 1Q and 1Mult the year I turned in a log for that
band)! Didn't anybody even proof-read the scores to see if they even
made sense?), but they haven't even had the courtesy to correct the
mistakes as quickly as possible and get the REAL results out to the
people who participated in the contest.
I know I didn't win any category- I knew that even before I submitted
my log. But I want to see how I fared against all my competition, and
I can't even get a look at that (and now my question is, would I trust
the numbers anyway, after the way they messed it up this year?).
ARRL- instead of some vague "corrections will be made and announced at
some later date" (which I'm suspicious may never come), why don't you
put a stake in the ground and tell us- WHEN WILL YOU PUBLISH THE
CORRECT AND TRUE RESULTS OF THIS YEAR'S EME COMPETITION???
I was unwilling to do this, but I will not turn in a log next year
unless there are some concrete changes made to the Contest Branch to
fix this problem. This mess has gone on waaaay too long.
Respectfully,
Dave K2DH
