Ham Fair 2007 was held in Tokyo, Aug. 25-26. Some 30k visitors came.
Japanese moon-bouncers had two exhibitions; one for EME groups, selling
surplus radio pars and precision measurement equipments, and anothre for the
Project BIG-DISH 8N1EME.
Kony, JM1GSH, and Mike, JH1KRC, made a 40-minutes lecture on 8N1EME with
a slide show of 160 picutres. It gathered a lot of audiences more than the
seats.
There were some CDMA HPAs sold at the price about 7-8k yen, which might
produce over 100 watts on Japanse 13cm band, 2424MHz, with easy
modification. Devices are MRF5P21180, two of MRF21125, etc. Some of
Japanese EMEers try to be on 13cm soon with these surplus SSPAs.
One of the visitors was Denis, ON4MU, who lives in Tokyo now. Denis has
some experience on 144MHz EME.
The next Ham Fair and Japanese National EME Meeting will be held about
the same period in August 2008. (Hope it doesn't meet the EME meeting in
Florence!)
Professor Sho Shirakata, JA5NNS, visits Fort Collins, Colorado, to study
at Colorado State University for two monts. Sho has set up a small HF
station in his home, and hopes to visit some amateurs, specially
moon-bouncers aroud. He will visit K0RZ next Sunday, Sept. 9.
Shige, JH1EFA, who has frequent business trip to Thailand helps local
amateurs to set up an EME station in Bangkok, on the occasion of the 35th
anniversary of SEA NET (South East Asian Net), signing HS35SEA.
In Thailand, IARU amateur bands above 144MHz is banned at present, but
Joe, HS2JFW, hopes to operate 1296MHz with a 4m dish made in Thailand.
Mike, JH1KRC, offered his 350 watts SSPA which was used at 8N1EME recently.
Joe has an experience to have some EME contacts on 144MHz several years
before.
73es, from Mike JH1KRC
