Hello Everyone,

I was reading of the good CW conditions on 2M while away in EA3 and was getting withdrawal symptoms. I landed back in the UK at 3.00am and arrived back home at 7.00am today, when I put the main PA onto my 2nd MS/tropo system. I've just listened on my Moonrise with 4x9ele, no preamp, no elevation and was getting excellent echoes. I worked OK1MS with ease and was called by at least x2 other stations. By this time the Moon was about 3deg and I was beaming into the nearby powerline, so the QRN was quite high. I heard no other stations and went QRT. I'm sorry to those stations who called. The good news is that the tower for my new array is in place and I have up-graded my AZ rotator to an Alpa-Spid, which is needed to support the 33' triangular cross boom, which is under construction. I've been building a 160ele collinear array, which I'd like to try as the low profile would be a distinct advantage in these wind-swept locations. I do, however, have the option of changing to x16 yagi's as this alternative is being supported in the new build. Being QRV again is a priority and will see how the new array compares with my previous H/B antennas. Winter is approaching and the weather.....

73's and good luck to all

David, G4DHF
