I apologise for the error in my first posting, which was written in some haste and saddnes. Indeed, Joseph's activity was like the bread of life :)

I heard the news this morning about Josep's, EA3DXU's death, which saddens me. I have known of Josep for almost 40 years and we have worked many times on 144MHz via Sp.E. It was only quite recently, however, with the advent of the Internet that we began to chat about our DX experiences. Josep and I have never met, but I feel as though I have known him all my life because of his passionate interest in VHF DX. I knew that when I was monitoring the band for good conditions, Josep would be doing the same some 1,500Km away, which always brought a smile to my face each time we worked. More recently, we have had some partial contacts via the Moon on CW, which was an enormous challenge. We missed the QSO by only a few characters in Josep's call and I was impressed by his honesty at not filling-in the missing information. He was a man of integrity. I have thanked Josep for his patience and professional approach and I will mourn his passing knowing that we were so close to a QSO on another mode. Josep is one of those rare breed of amateurs who have established credibility because they have been active for so much of their lives and have achieved success out of dedication and commitment. For this reason the QSO is not wholly important. It is the man behind the microphone or key that is important and Josep's approach was that of a professional amateur. He will be sadly missed by so many and 144MHz DX will be the poorer at not having EA3DXU responding to CQ DX calls. My thoughts are with him and I offer my condolences to his brother and family.
