Well, in spite of all the technical difficulties I had on the first and then
the second weekends, I had a great time. It appears (pending a close look)
like I ended up with 50 QSO's and 31 multipliers on 1296. I picked up many
initials over the two weekends- 22, in fact: K9SLQ, SK0OX, ES5PC, N9JIM/6,
VK3UM, AL7RT, DK7LJ, K7XQ, P43L, N2UO, VA7MM, JR4ZZS, JA8ERE, ON7UN, IQ4BF,
LA2Z, IZ1BPN, W2DRZ, DF3RU, KL6M, I5MPK, and SP7DCS. Watch for QSL's,
folks- I'll have them out to you in the next few days!

I've finally gotten the Azimuth drive motor to run as it should, now with
some work I hope to get the backlash out of the Azimuth drive grear
reduction and then tracking should be automatic and reliable.

The high power PA is still another story. This contest was run with
150-180W (in the shack) the whole time. My plans for the TH-328 amp have
fizzled with the tube I was using, so it's time to revisit the possible
choices and come up with a solution. I may possibly use a 8x7289 ring amp
or a 4x7289 ring amp (I have one of each but I was really looking forward to
not using multiple 7289's this time), or possibly a GS-15B cavity or a pair
of them. I'm open to ideas and suggestions!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to work me- I really appreciate your
good receivers and I hope you all had as much fun as I did- 1296 was busier
than I've ever heard it, on both weekends!

73 and see you all on the bands!
Dave K2DH
