Hello all
I believe ARRL has taken some positive steps in certain directions
with the new 2007 EME Competition rules.
http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2007/eme.html
ARRL has at last been responsive to some of the Contest rules'
amendments that have been requested for the last 4 years.
I would like to express my appreciation, to all those working for this
to happen, inside and outside ARRL VUAC Advisory Committee. As one of
them has been K1JT, being also a member of VUAC, certainly a thank you
note also goes to Joe.
It is unfortunately still of great concern having in Mixed Mode the
option of Assisted class with active self spotting & skeds (not just
passive Internet use as it has been last year), as focus is taken away
from Radio and goes to Internet.
Even though ''this category is intended to encourage smaller stations
and operators who may be new to EME'', I am afraid we will see quite a
number of fully capable in terms of EIRP, experienced EME stations,
spending their time & efforts on the Internet submitting Assisted logs.
Time is coming and I hope i am proven wrong.
In case i am not, i hope ARRL takes this into future consideration for
the EME Competition to become trully and only Random operation in its
entirety, as it well deserves. For those that need Assisted the way it
unfortunately became, a Rally type of event instead, would put Contest
integrity in less jeopardy.
Thanks to all & 73,
Jimmy SV1BTR
