I need to learn more about Digital encoders for a coming project.  i must have  high accuracy  as my mainlobe will be around 0.5 deg.

As i have been working until today i have used potentiometers that feed my interface with between  0-5 volt with 8 bits. I guess if i went up to 10 bits it should take me down to around  0.35 degrees accuracy. Problem as you know is that the pots are changing and are not so very reliable.

Is it any way that i could use Digital encoders and with some sort of interface feed  0-5 volt to my existing rotatorinterface.
