Hello Ross
As i have only been around for 9 years i am still a newbeginner so take my advice for what it is.
I should definetley go for at least 17,5dBd gain on 144mhz and also absolutley add 70cm 4 Bay array as it looks like 70cm EME will also be activated more and more in the future. (i should say 70cm is a very very interesting band)
What we have seen last years it have been a big move to 23cm but the Dubus 70cm event seem to change things. My guess is that more and more people will add both feeds (70&23) to their dishes on the same clever way we have seen some stations reporting already. (this will add more activity as it is easy to change band then compared to changing the feed)
On this side i am building big on 144 small on 432 and medium on 1296 to in a couple of years be ready to be a 3 band station.
All the best wishes and hope working you on EME in the future.
Merry Christmas from Hakan SM7WSJ
>Well its Xmas in less than 12 hours down here, and eat your heart out in the Northern hemisphere,
>its a perfect day and temp about 24degrees C ( for the US about 75F) snow is not a problem.
>Thanks to all for the best wishes about my tower failure, yes I will be back on EME in the first quarter of 2008.
>Now to my naive question, the Xyl does not think my previous antenna farm exactly a thing of beauty, and that includes
>the big HF beam on its own tower. So I feel that a tower for 2m one for 70cm and the HF tower may be a bit much!!!
>Should I put up at least a 4beam array for 70cm or go back to rebuilding a 4 beam 2m array.
>I have all the euipment for 70cm, a Kuhne transverter, an LZ2US amp, (running off 3 phases), 7/8inch heliax
>preamp etc, so I can go on 70cm fairly easily.
>But how much activity is there on 70cm, on 2m there,s plenty.best wishes
