[Moon] Moon Digest, Vol 14, Issue 24, ARRL rules

Hi gang,

what an incredible mess, it really makes me sick! I really have it up to my eyeballs!!Take a look at the DUBUS rules, make a direct copy for the ARRL and be sure that more people will: 1st take part in that contest and 2nd will submit more logs.
IMHO: for me it never was important to win a contest (I never ever will have any chance, as I cannot invest so much money as the biggies...and the end of the day it all comes down to the money????), but just to show some activity and to ENJOY EME - simple as that!

Can we just get back to discussing technical issues, i.e? This would be my wish for the New Year.

A vy Merry Xmas to everybody,

Michael, DL1YMK

Hi Guenter,
Your log should show all of the EME QSOs you made during the contest.
ou may, however, enter as single band if you choose. You must then
elect which band. Alternatively, you can enter as "All Band".
YOu can use the ARRL's "Summary sheet" form posted at
ttp://www.arrl.org/contests/forms/eme.frm.html .

Hi,
means I cannot apply for 23cm single band and 13cm single band? So if ever you
o two bands, you have to cope with thoese having up to 10 bands. Does that make
ense?
Gosh, the rules are really complicated...

Which cathegory?Gunter
t would be much better to not participate in the ARRL contest. I belive that
he DUBUS contest will take over to be the nr 1 EME contest.
After that ARRL strugled with my loggs and never found them i havent joined
heir contest since.
And it looks like if K1JT have become the spookes man for ARRL.
Merry Xmas Gunter

Hi Lars,
I am sure that others will miss you if you decide not to participate in
ny contest.
As I have written several times before on the reflector, I have no
fficial status with respect to ARRL or any other contest. I simply
ave Gunter my personal answer to his question.

Aproximately 6months ago I lost my 40ft tower plus the 4x18XXX 2m array plus my
32mhz beams,
n a very very high wind storm. Well very high winds for Auckland anyway.
t has taken me until now to stop being upset at the pile of twisted aluminium
nd steel.
Plus the 2 big LZ2US amps sitting on the bench not doing anything, have been
ooking at me accusingly for not being used.)
I will be back on 2m and definitely 70cm with at least 2 large M2 beams on each
and, the tower just needs rewelding in parts.
The 4x18XXX plus the 2 big 70cm beams were just too much for the tower, which
as not guyed,it will be guyed next time!!!)
So Christmas greetings to all EME'ers and I look forward work you again via the
oon in Feb 2008.
Best wishes
Ross

Hello,
My primary goal is not to win the contest but to document activity. So I will
pply within the multiband category. Again, I am happy that for me at least
Analog" and "Single OP non assisted" is not under question.
About better cathegories, I will not comment. First, because I believe that my
nglish is not enough for describing such to ARRL, second, that I am sadly
onvinced that ARRL does not listen to me as a German. May I kindly ask the
merican OPs to make that suggestion? I believe we surely agree that we need a
etter sorting.
1a) A primary main sorting must be Assisted/Non Assisted. Second it is the
raditional/digital modes. That is 4 main categories.
1b) Even simplier might be reducing this to 2 main categories:
nalog-non-assisted and Multi-mode-assisted. Comes much closer to reality. But
his is fine tuning. Hey, forget the few skeds that small stations do and do not
ay just due to that they have to go into assisted category. Reality shows that
he contest winners do not require assistance at all.
2) Remove the double counting of analog and digital QSOs, each station counts
ne time only. Lets compare apples with apples and bananas with bananas.
3) Now having 4 or 2 main cathegories, just take each station's entry sum into
all bands" and parallel into the "single bands" Why not shall we compare e.g.
3LTF's 23cm result, who has done 70cm and 2m at the same time, with a single
and OP's who was only QRV on 23cm? If Peter had done more QSO with even having
ther bands parallel, this is an noticable result and shall not become limited
ust due to regulations. (Is also the case for K1JT, RW1AW and surely others,
oo)
4) Forget differing between amateur/professional equipment. But notice them in
he listings as "professional" and skip them when placing. As far as I know
here were even none of them QRV.

nd that's it.

If you only submit the log for the band you prefer, and do not submit the
est of the log, the QSOs will be discounted from the other people with whom
ou made contact on the other bands as "NIL" Not in Log, and they will get
enalized. You need to submit your entire log, however, you should put in
he comments section of the log if submitted in Cabrillo format, or
lsewhere but clearly marked as a single band for the band you want counted
f only a single-band entry. Rick, K1DS

That did not work for WW2R last year. He entered all his QSOs and chose
304
I believe but they put him in a multiband category. My conclusion would be
just to enter the QSOs for the band you want to enter. The guy at the

 may try to outsmart you.
