[Moon] [Moon-net] Which category?

Hello,

My primary goal is not to win the contest but to document activity. So I will apply within the multiband category. Again, I am happy that for me at least "Analog" and "Single OP non assisted" is not under question.

About better cathegories, I will not comment. First, because I believe that my English is not enough for describing such to ARRL, second, that I am sadly convinced that ARRL does not listen to me as a German. May I kindly ask the american OPs to make that suggestion? I believe we surely agree that we need a better sorting.

1a) A primary main sorting must be Assisted/Non Assisted. Second it is the traditional/digital modes. That is 4 main categories.

1b) Even simplier might be reducing this to 2 main categories: Analog-non-assisted and Multi-mode-assisted. Comes much closer to reality. But this is fine tuning. Hey, forget the few skeds that small stations do and do not say just due to that they have to go into assisted category. Reality shows that the contest winners do not require assistance at all.

2) Remove the double counting of analog and digital QSOs, each station counts one time only. Lets compare apples with apples and bananas with bananas.

3) Now having 4 or 2 main cathegories, just take each station's entry sum into "all bands" and parallel into the "single bands" Why not shall we compare e.g. G3LTF's 23cm result, who has done 70cm and 2m at the same time, with a single band OP's who was only QRV on 23cm? If Peter had done more QSO with even having other bands parallel, this is an noticable result and shall not become limited just due to regulations. (Is also the case for K1JT, RW1AW and surely others, too)

4) Forget differing between amateur/professional equipment. But notice them in the listings as "professional" and skip them when placing. As far as I know there were even none of them QRV.

And that's it.

Rick

I totally agree with you on submitting all QSOs. However, somebody better
re-brief the ARRL!

If you only submit the log for the band you prefer, and do not submit the
rest of the log, the QSOs will be discounted from the other people with whom
you made contact on the other bands as "NIL" Not in Log, and they will get
penalized. You need to submit your entire log, however, you should put in
the comments section of the log if submitted in Cabrillo format, or
elsewhere but clearly marked as a single band for the band you want counted
if only a single-band entry. Rick, K1DS
